I’ve been to Ireland before, and explored most of the island. But I’d never had a chance to explore Northern Ireland until last week. The north east coast is breathtaking, and in Belfast you can still feel the tremors of the history the city is trying to put behind it.

I also wandered the mountains of Wicklow National Park, breathed the salt air of Howth and Ballintoy, imagined the lives that played out in coastal castles abandoned centuries ago and finally lost myself in the Dark Hedges and Giant’s Causeway. (I’ve long wanted to see both of these places.)
